August is going to be a busy month for The Checker.

As part of our continued effort to spread the word about the importance of inspections to safety, and therefore to smart business, we’re taking The Checker on the road to two major industry shows.

From Aug. 17-20, we’ll be exhibiting at the APWA Congress & Exposition, held annually by the American Public Works Association. Our president, David Lefevre, will be a speaker at this year’s event.

Then from Aug. 25-28, we’ll be exhibiting at the 30th annual national conference of the Voluntary Protection Programs Participants’ Association (VPPPA).

APWA Congress & Expo

Since we’re based in Toronto, we’re particularly excited about this year’s APWA show because it’s being held at the Metro Toronto Convention Center—the first time it’s been in Canada since 1988 (also in Toronto).

The annual APWA International Public Works Congress & Expo Most chapters of the APWA are based in the U.S., so this opportunity to host the event is great for Canada.

APWA calls their event “the best show in public works,” and that’s an apt description. David is honored that the APWA asked him to speak because it is such a fantastic show.

David‘s presentation, “Smart Phones Are Smart Business,” will focus on improving municipal inspection, maintenance, and service activities by using handheld mobile devices. Attendees will learn how mobile audit/inspection processes can reduce repair costs and downtime, increase audit/inspection productivity and efficiency, and protect municipalities from risk and liability.

We hope you don’t miss that session, but if you do, you can still stop by our booth (#2040) during the show. We’re glad to talk with you about inspections, safety, and/or mobile solutions.

VPPPA Conference

The 30th Annual VPPPA ConferenceWe’ll be traveling to Gaylord National Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland (just outside D.C.), for this conference, which each year brings together safety-minded organizations from across the continent. You don’t celebrate your thirtieth conference without doing something right! It’s always a productive, informative, and fun time.

You can find The Checker at booth 430.

Takeaway

Traveling to the APWA and VPPPA shows is just one way we keep on top of what’s happening in workplace safety. Because both events are attended by people who have a direct impact on safety, they are excellent opportunities for us to not only demonstrate the value of The Checker, but also to learn from our peers in occupational safety.

If you’re going to either event, we look forward to seeing you there!
