--- title: Using Standard & Customized Inspection Forms – The Best of Both Worlds description: custom inspections forms and standard inspections forms are an important part of any robust audit and inspection program image: https://www.thechecker.net/hs-fs/file-1587057673-jpg/images/man_using_tablet.jpg --- [![the-checker-grey-300](https://www.thechecker.net/hubfs/the-checker-grey-300.png) ](https://www.thechecker.net/) [ Login ](https://store.thechecker.net/login.php) [ GET A DEMO ](https://www.thechecker.net/demo) 2 min read ## [Using Standard & Customized Inspection Forms – The Best of Both Worlds](https://www.thechecker.net/stories/blog/using-standard-customized-inspection-forms-the-best-of-both-worlds) by [Shawn Macpherson](https://www.thechecker.net/stories/blog/author/shawn-macpherson) ![man_using_tablet.jpg](https://www.thechecker.net/hs-fs/file-1587057673-jpg/images/man_using_tablet.jpg) The forms organizations use to conduct audits and inspections are an interesting study. ![man_using_tablet.jpg](https://www.thechecker.net/hs-fs/file-1587057673-jpg/images/man_using_tablet.jpg?width=300&height=200&name=man_using_tablet.jpg) On one hand, forms are fairly generic. The inspection of a vehicle or a fire extinguisher is not all that different no matter who does it or where it is done. On the other hand, it only takes one or two changes to a standard audit before it no longer resembles something standard at all. **Most organizations need both** In our experience most companies conduct many straightforward audits / inspections as well as highly customized ones and they need tools that accommodate both. The Checker provides the best of both worlds by providing a comprehensive library of standard inspection / audit forms and by giving users the ability to modify existing forms or create custom ones using The Checker Builder. **The benefits of the form library** The inspection / audit form library is intended to provide users with a wide variety of standard forms. You can choose from 100s of pre-built forms that allow you to get started using audit / inspection software right away and each is developed using best practices. It couldn’t be easier to use. **The benefits of The Checker Builder** Our software allows you to modify or create from scratch a form that suits your specific needs. Using The Checker Builder you can create custom forms without help from I.T. and exactly match your process and/or environment. Custom forms allow you to maintain consistency with any manual forms used prior to implementing audit and inspection software and give you the ability to audit or inspect highly unique processes, facilities and equipment where no standard form exists. **Efficient and Effective** Having to create a set of standard forms is not a good use of your time and neither is trying to force a unique process into a standardized form. Given the increasing demands of regulatory compliance and the need to keep employees safe, audit and inspection programs need to be efficient and effective.  **The Bottom Line** Whether an inspection form is standard or custom should not be a decision you need to spend much time on. Instead you want to focus your energy on creating the most robust audit / inspection program possible and you need tools to help you do so.
