In the 1990s, our company, Devtra, provided safety training and consulting, with a focus on equipment operations, material handling, inspections, maintenance, and compliance.

As we served our clients, it became obvious they had a major unfulfilled need—inspection checklists designed specifically for the equipment and vehicles they were using.

So we began talking to hundreds of safety mangers, maintenance managers, government inspectors, equipment operators, and customers to develop practical inspection checklists that had never been created before, designed for specific pieces of equipment and types of vehicles in numerous industries. The result was The Checker inspection checklists.

We created The Checker methodology to help businesses use inspections to be safer and more profitable. Apparently, we got it right—The Checker is still going strong 15 years later, and we’ve sold over 17 million of The Checker inspections checklists! Our equipment-specific, intuitive checklists get results.

We’ve consistently spread the message that inspections not only achieve compliance and make the workplace safer, they help the bottom line by reducing costs and increasing productivity. Over The Checker’s 15 years, that message has taken hold among more and more companies. I don’t think The Checker would have made it 15 years if that awareness wasn't growing. We certainly wouldn’t have sold 15 million inspections!

With the introduction of our inspection software for use on mobile devices, The Checker is poised to help companies move into the next era of equipment inspections, as well as to use The Checker methodology for anything that involves checking items—facility audits, process audits, site hazard assessments, safety committee walkarounds, you  name it.
